 Braces (from American Orthodontics)

The office is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment:

Radiography is the technical term, whereas x-ray is the layman term.

Direct digital radiography offers many advantages which include:

The concept of "direct digital" and "indirect digital" is confusing to some people.  With direct digital, the x-ray image is produced directly.  Thus, the x-ray image is shown on the computer monitor instantly.

On the other hand, with indirect digital, the x-ray image is produced from a 2-step method: first, the pre-image is captured on a phosphor plate; second, a scanner is used to produce the final image, which is shown on a computer monitor subsequently.  The process is lengthy and cumbersome.  The quality is often compromised because of the scanning process and the quality of the scanner itself.  During scanning, the pre-image is often exposed to some amount of light, and this light degrades the image quality.  The more light exposure is, the worse the quality of the image becomes.

With direct digital, radiation exposure to the patient can be reduced because lower radiation - compared to the conventional radiography - can be used to produce a clear image. On the other hand, indirect digital actually exposes the patient to higher radiation - compared to conventional radiography. This is contrary to some advertisement.  The reason is the phosphor plate requires a slightly higher radiation dose so the x-rays can penetrate the phosphor layer on the plate's surface.  Both direct and indirect digital offer the advantage of no chemical needed for processing.  But the capital cost of direct digital is much higher.

I have kids that had their braces done here and the quality is not that great. The wires broke off a couple of times and they have to get it fixed which is a waste of half a day. The long wait time is because appointments are not scheduled according to the actual times required so patient’s schedules overlapped after the first patient’s time went over the time limit. This is just poor scheduling.

Dr. Vu is well knowledged and well-versed in the topic however his staffing has horrible customer service skills especially the fat lady at the front I call in and she answers the phone with "Yes?" The wait times are long when you get there as there are too many patients crowded up at the same time interval one time I waited for almost an hour until my turn to adjust my braces. I would recommend the doctor's expertise to friends and Associates however the staffing needs better customer service training in addition to scheduling being more organized

Wait time is way too long, even with appointment. Calls patient after working hours (9PM) when it is no emergency whatsoever. This is invading others privacy, not a good practice, especially dentistry. This can cause misunderstanding to the patient’s family.

Dr Vu is very meticulous and detailed in his orthodontic procedures which is very annoying and time-consuming for me but then am assured that I am getting the best service for my money. My other Orthodontics was fast but then at the end of the day I had to come to dr. VU to get it done correctly recommended by our relatives.
